Mike Unwin became WTC's latest Ironman in impressive style.
There is another Ironman in our midst. Congratulations to Mike Unwin who travelled to Cork, Ireland to complete his first full Ironman this weekend. Ironman Cork has a tough bike course with 1700m of elevation and a couple of very steep climbs.
Mike smashed the 3.8km swim in just under 1 hour and 13 mins. His 180km bike which included some tough hills was out of the way after just 6 hours 34 minutes in the saddle and then it was just the marathon. Mike breezed through this in 4 hours and 54 minutes earning himself a shiny Ironman medal and the nickname Iron Mike! Taking into account transitions, Mike completed the Ironman in a very impressive 12 hours, 59 minutes and 03 seconds.
