WTC Athletes Competing at Oxford and Abingdon

23 Oct 2022

2 hours smashed, but sub 4 remains elusive

Two of Oxfordshire's most popular road running events took place over the past 2 weeks kicking off with the annual Oxford Half Marathon.

Leigh Bard and Amy Underdown were representing WTC. Leigh smashed out a cracking 1 hour 58 minutes and 27 seconds, easily beating the 2 hour barrier.

Amy finished in 2 hours 13 minutes and 6 seconds whilst saying "I am never ever running again. Ever." She later amended her statement to clarify that she's never ever running again without training. Wise words from Amy.

Well done to both of you.

Then it was the turn of Matt Clamp. Our events secretary was the only WTC member to compete at the Abingdon Marathon. The weather was less kind for Abingdon and Matt was sat in his van near the start at 7:30am questioning his life choices. After an incredible soggy start to the race, the sun came out for what I'm told was a very enjoyable (but muddy) marathon, especially as there was a cross country element to the race this year.

Matt finished in 4 hours 7 minutes and 23 seconds. Well done Matt. You'll get that sub 4 hours soon.
