What a weekend of sport it has been for Wallingford Triathlon Club
This weekend has been an amazing weekend of sporting events for members of Wallingford Triathlon Club.
Amy Underdown: Seahorse Swim - Dorset Coast (3.8km)
Andrew Harden-Sweetnam: Ironman 70.3 West Friesland (Middle Distance)
Eliot Simons: Austria Extreme Triathlon (Full Distance)
Mike Unwin: Weymouth 70.3 (Middle Distance)
Phil Wortley: Ironman 70.3 West Friesland (Middle Distance)
Rosie Rance: Seahorse Swim - Dorset Coast (3.8km)
The weekend started with Eliot's Extreme Full distance triathlon up a mountain! As if a full distance ironman distance event isn't enough, this 3.8km swim, 186.4km bike and 43.6km run took place in the Austrian Alps with an elevation gain of 5,860m. Eliot finished in 15th place! Massive congratulations Eliot.
In contrast to the hills of Austria, Phil and Andrew completed their half Ironman in the flattest of places, below sea level in the Netherlands. Whilst it may have been flat, it was also hot and windy making conditions somewhat tricky. Andrew finished in 6 hours 16 mins and Phil in 6 hours 28 mins.
Rosie and Amy both took on a challenging sea swim off the south coast of England in choppy conditions and Mike Unwin completed the Weymouth 70.3 in 6 hours 21 mins.
